of the INPE, Leonel Perondi, accompanies minister, Marco Antônio Raupp, at
Rio+20.

The director of the Brazil’s National Institute for Space
Research (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais - INPE), Leonel Perondi,
accompanied the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), Marco
Antonio Raupp, at the opening ceremony of the Science and Technology for
Sustainable Development Exhibition on Wednesday (6/13), at Píer Mauá in Rio de
Janeiro city. As part of the Rio+20, the exhibitions seek to enhance interest
of children and teenagers in science.
The Science and Technology for Sustainable Development
Exhibitions, of MCTI, continue until June 22, from 9am to 7pm, at Armazém 4,
Píer Mauá. INPE is one of the exhibitors, along with research institutes,
social organizations and agencies related to the ministry.
Conference
Twenty years after the "Eco 92 - the Earth
Summit" held in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, the "United Nations
Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio+20" discusses pathways towards
sustainable development and poverty eradication.
The Rio +20 is aimed at evaluating the progress made so
far, the new challenges and the gaps still existing concerning the
implementation of outcomes from key meetings on sustainable development.
