It was extended to July 1 the deadline for submissions of papers to be presented at the 4th Symposium on Geotechnologies in the Pantanal - GeoPantanal, sponsored by the Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais - INPE) along with Embrapa - Informática Agropecuária, the State University of Mato Grosso (Unemat) and the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).

The 4th GeoPantanal will take place at Bonito (MS), between October 20-24, and will gather professionals, researchers and students interested in the use of geotechnologies aimed at studying Pantanal and the surrounding region landed in Bolivia and Paraguay, bounded by the Paraguay River Basin.

It is also possible to present papers on wetlands similar to Pantanal and those related to the methodology that can be applied in this biome.

Papers must be submitted in their complete version in accordance with the instructions available on the website: http://www.geopantanal.cnptia.embrapa.br/2012/

Geotechnology

It is called geotechnology, the set of spatial information technologies for gathering, processing, interpretation, analysis and provision of geo-referenced data. There are several areas using geotechnology, such as agriculture, environment, urban studies, public health and safety, among others.

Among those geotechnologies are the remote sensing satellites, geoprocessing, geographic information systems (GIS), the WebGIS, the geo-referenced databases, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), the aerial photogrammetry, geodesy, among others.
